The Raypirri Rom Program is seeking two Community Workers to join the Raypirri Rom Team on the Gove Peninsula. The team focuses on providing education and early intervention through support group activities, youth engagement, and broader community involvement. Key responsibilities include offering follow-up support to Yolngu individuals, families, and groups, conducting prevention and early intervention activities for students, delivering outreach services, and working collaboratively with other agencies. The role emphasizes using a both-ways approach to help Yolngu communities find strong solutions to challenges while participating in team discussions, resource creation in language, and ongoing training within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, an understanding of issues faced by Yolngu people in remote communities, and the ability to communicate effectively in group settings, including mediating family meetings. Knowledge of Miwatj region languages and kinship systems is essential, along with a willingness to undertake relevant formal training, and literacy or numeracy training if needed. Reliability, motivation, and commitment are critical personal qualities, and candidates must hold a current NT Driver’s License and Ochre Card (Working with Children's Check NT).
