Project Officer - Eliminating Strongyloides

Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation are seeking a Project Officer to support community-based research for the Eliminating Strongyloides Program in Gapuwiyak. This role works alongside Yolŋu researchers and facilitators to lead community engagement activities, ensuring they align with project protocols and ethical standards. The position also provides on-the-ground logistical support to help meet key project milestones.

This is a full time, fixed – term role until May 2027 based in Nhulunbuy with regular travel to Gapuwiyak Community.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive annual salary based on classification and experience:
    • AO6 $107,978 - $120,711 per annum + 11.5% superannuation 
  • Ability to Salary Package up to $15,900 + additional $2,650 on Meals and Entertainment

Established in 1992, we’re committed to providing quality services across East Arnhem Land and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary and public health for over 6,000 residents of this remote landscape. With a Head Office in Nhulunb uy, and a Corporate Office in Darwin, our delivery is focused on 7 health centres across East Arnhem Land and dedicated outreach teams who travel to additional locations.

What we’re looking for in you!

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Yolngu people in remote settings. Candidates should have experience conducting research fieldwork or related work in health, Indigenous, or developing country contexts. They must demonstrate experience in similar roles within First Nations communities, along with the ability to lead and support a team, using sound judgment and initiative.
